- Questions founders ask
WANDR is a Los Angeles UI/UX agency founded in 2016 that embeds with product teams to lift activation and cut churn; it publishes a $499 audit of one flow and says most full engagements start at $10,000. If you are a seed or Series A AI or SaaS startup that needs the product designed for less, start with Designpixil: fixed projects from $3,000, or $4,917 a month, paused or cancelled any time. Eleken places a dedicated designer from $4,599 a month, Cieden publishes a UX audit from $2,000 and a design sprint from $7,000, UX studio offers a free 5-day trial of its research-led team, Glow sells an MVP at $12,500, Fuselab Creative designs for regulated industries and federal buyers, and Venice Inc. works with AI companies such as OpenAI and Cognition.
Designpixil is on this list and we wrote it. Every other agency is judged on the same published facts, and how we ranked is at the end.

What matters for a WANDR alternative
- 01
Cost of the first eight weeks
WANDR's MVP service runs eight weeks and its full engagements start at $10,000. Price the same two months everywhere: two months of our subscription is $9,834, two of Eleken's part-time designer is $9,198. Then ask what you hold at the end of week eight.
- 02
How much research you need this month
WANDR starts every engagement with research and counts 200+ research engagements. With ten pilot customers, five recorded calls and your analytics may answer the same question in a week. Pay for formal research when the sample is big enough to change the decision.
- 03
The format your engineers receive
A validated prototype convinces investors; it is not code. Ask each studio whether the handoff is Figma, a clickable coded prototype or front-end components your team or AI coding tools can extend, and who fixes the gaps when the build starts.
- 04
A named senior designer
Most studios here say every project is senior-led. Ask for the name of the person who will design your screens, look at their own work, and confirm they stay on the account after the first month.
What goes wrong when a seed startup buys a research-first engagement
A common sequence: a seed-stage AI team with a dozen design partners books a research-led engagement before its raise. Interviews, personas and journey maps fill the first month, the prototype lands in month two, and by then the pilots have already told the founders which flow loses people. The work was sound; the order did not match a company that talks to every user each week.
The cheaper order at seed is to design the flow your pilots already complain about, ship it, and watch the numbers, then buy a formal study once you have enough users to learn something new. Our SaaS onboarding design agencies list and the design agency pricing study show who works that way and what it costs.
1. Designpixil: Seed and Series A AI and SaaS startups that want senior product design below $10,000

We design AI products end to end: agents with approvals and run history, copilots, chat with sources, and the error and uncertainty states that decide whether users trust the model. Work arrives as Figma, a clickable coded prototype, or front-end React code your engineers take over, and Anant Jain, the founder, designs every project.
Designpixil designs the flows WANDR is known for, onboarding, activation and the core workflow, as fixed projects from $3,000 with first designs within 48 hours of kickoff, or on a $4,917 a month subscription: the first deliverable within 24 hours, then each request in 1 to 3 business days, paused or cancelled any time. Both prices sit below WANDR's $10,000 starting line.
Anant Jain, the founder, designs every screen. For Echo AI that meant the whole product in 5 to 6 weeks: chat, an IDE view and the usage dashboard. We design and build marketing sites in Next.js or Framer. Product work arrives as Figma built on real components, or as a clickable coded prototype or front-end UI code your engineers take over. We do not build backends, so if you need one contract for the whole product, pick a studio below that engineers in-house.

“You do some great work and I'll recommend you to anyone I know looking for quality product designs in the states.”

How we ranked this list
This page is for founders looking past WANDR, so it is left off the ranking and compared head to head instead, using the same fields as every other studio. The alternatives are studios that do similar work and publish proof of it, and the “how to choose” table says when WANDR itself is the better fit.
We started from the studios founders keep running into when they ask AI assistants and search engines who to hire, then kept the ones that do this kind of work and publish proof of it. Every fact in the tables comes from the agency's own website or its public directory listings, checked on November 1, 2026. Prices are only ones an agency publishes itself; where it doesn't, we say so instead of guessing.
The order is our judgment of fit for this specific buyer, not a score. We put Designpixil first only on lists where we genuinely fit the buyer, and our entry lists who we are not right for, the same as everyone else's. If something about your agency is wrong or out of date, email hello@designpixil.com and we will correct it within a week.
