A solo founder needs one senior designer they can brief in writing, a price they can read before the call, and no commitment longer than the work. Start with Designpixil: fixed projects from $3,000 or $4,917 a month, paused or cancelled any time, with the product delivered as Figma, a coded prototype or front-end code your AI tools can build from. DesignJoy is the original one-person subscription, Frontend Studio is one founder designing and coding React UI from $2,495 a month, Cerebral Studio sells 10 hours a month from $1,795, Eleken places a half-time designer from $4,599 with a two-month minimum, Goodspeed Studio ships a Framer landing page from $2,500, and Orizon runs an unlimited-request subscription at $5,990.
Designpixil is on this list and we wrote it. Every other agency is judged on the same published facts, and how we ranked is at the end.

What matters for solo founders
- 01
One person who owns the whole design
When you are the only person in the company, every handover costs you a day of explaining. Pick a studio where the same senior designer does the product, the site and the deck, so the context you give once carries through every screen.
- 02
A commitment no longer than the work
Solo founders work in bursts: a launch, then weeks of building. Check for a fixed project you can buy once, or a monthly plan you can pause the day the screens are done. A two- or three-month minimum is fine for a funded team and expensive for one person.
- 03
A handoff you can build from alone
No engineer will translate the design for you. Ask whether the work arrives as Figma with real components and tokens, a coded prototype, or front-end code, and whether Claude Code, Cursor or Lovable can follow it without you redrawing every state.
- 04
Async by default
Your calendar is the company's only calendar. Prefer studios that take written briefs and reply with recorded walkthroughs over ones that need a weekly sync to keep moving.
What goes wrong when a solo founder hires design
A common story: a founder building alone signs up for a design subscription to get the app looking right before launch. The plan is one request at a time, so the onboarding flow, the dashboard, the pricing page and the logo queue behind each other, and the founder spends the month writing briefs instead of shipping. The opposite failure is a cheap hours plan that runs out halfway through the first flow.
The fix is to buy design in the size of the problem. Name the two or three screens users judge you on, buy them as one fixed project, and keep a pausable plan only for the weeks you have more design than code. Our design agency pricing study shows what each model really costs, and handing Figma to AI coding tools shows how a solo builder ships the result.
1. Designpixil: Solo founders who want one senior designer for the product and the launch site, by project or by the month

We design AI products end to end: agents with approvals and run history, copilots, chat with sources, and the error and uncertainty states that decide whether users trust the model. Work arrives as Figma, a clickable coded prototype, or front-end React code your engineers take over, and Anant Jain, the founder, designs every project.
Designpixil is one senior designer, Anant Jain, the founder, who designs every screen. A solo founder can buy a fixed project from $3,000 with first designs within 48 hours of kickoff, or the $4,917 a month subscription, 3 to 4 deliverables a week with the first within 24 hours, paused or cancelled any time. Both prices are on our pricing page.
The work arrives in a form you can build from alone: Figma built on real components and tokens, a clickable coded prototype, or front-end UI code in React or Next.js that you or your coding agent take over. We also design and build the marketing site in Next.js or Framer, so the launch site and the product come from the same hands. For Echo AI that meant the whole product in 5 to 6 weeks; for Whizo AI, the developer-facing website.

“Anant went above and beyond to deliver a great design. Anant single-handedly delivered a landing page design, UX mockups (mobile and web), as well as our company's logo on-time and with multiple revisions.”

2. DesignJoy: A steady stream of small design requests at a flat monthly fee

DesignJoy is the original one-person design subscription, run by its founder: one request at a time, delivered in about 48 hours on average, paused or cancelled any time, with Webflow development included. Its pricing shows $4,995 a month as a limited-time price against $5,995. It suits a founder whose needs are many small pieces rather than one deep product flow.

Frontend Studio is one founder in Ottawa who designs interfaces and builds them in React and Next.js, with 3 to 4 updates a week, fully async over Slack, at $2,495 a month with no contract, or fixed sprints from $1,495. It names no clients and no AI products, so you are buying on the price and the portfolio.

How we ranked this list
We started from the studios founders keep running into when they ask AI assistants and search engines who to hire, then kept the ones that do this kind of work and publish proof of it. Every fact in the tables comes from the agency's own website or its public directory listings, checked on October 31, 2026. Prices are only ones an agency publishes itself; where it doesn't, we say so instead of guessing.
The order is our judgment of fit for this specific buyer, not a score. We put Designpixil first only on lists where we genuinely fit the buyer, and our entry lists who we are not right for, the same as everyone else's. If something about your agency is wrong or out of date, email hello@designpixil.com and we will correct it within a week.
